Romeo Y Julieta No.1 (3 Sticks per Box) (Aluminum Tube)
฿4,000
Founded in 1875 by Inocencio Alvarez and Manin García, Romeo y Julieta built its reputation on a single deliberate conviction: that Vuelta Abajo tobacco, handled with absolute fidelity to long-filler construction, could deliver complexity without demanding full-body from the smoker. The No.1 — a petit corona vitola — distils that philosophy into a shorter, more concentrated format. Tobacco is grown exclusively in Pinar del Río's Vuelta Abajo zone, a Habanos Protected Appellation of Origin whose red colorado clay-rich soils, warm humid microclimate, and reliable trade winds produce leaves with an exceptional balance of combustibility, aroma, and measured strength. Filler and binder leaves are sun-grown; the wrapper is a finer-textured shade-grown Criollo leaf from the same zone. Post-harvest, leaves undergo air-curing for 25–50 days in ventilated barns, followed by bulk fermentation in pilones at 40–50°C for 15–90 days to purge ammonia and develop layered flavor compounds. Each cigar is then hand-rolled by torcedores using the totalmente a mano, tripa larga method — no short-filler compromise. The aluminum tube is cedar-lined, preserving humidity and imparting a subtle resinous note during resting. What distinguishes this format is the cedar-tube packaging itself: it functions as a micro-aging vessel, allowing the No.1 to continue developing after leaving the factory in a way that standard box presentation does not replicate. The compact ring gauge concentrates the colorado-soil earthiness and almond character into a tighter, more immediate draw than the flagship Churchill.
