Cono Sur Bicicleta Pinot Noir
฿700
When Cono Sur launched as an independent subsidiary of Concha y Toro in 1993, its founding ambition was singular: prove that Chile could produce serious Pinot Noir. The Bicicleta line sits at the base of that pyramid, but it draws on the same house philosophy that placed Burgundian consultant Martin Prieur of Domaine Jacques Prieur in a New World cellar — a first for Chile. Sourced from Colchagua Valley, where the Santa Elisa estate in Chimbarongo holds the oldest documented Pinot Noir vines in Chile (planted 1968), the valley's alluvial soils and warm days tempered by Andean night-cooling deliver ripe, fruit-forward character without sacrificing freshness. Vinification is entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel, preserving primary aromatics and keeping the wine approachable from release at 13% ABV. No oak aging is applied at this tier — the fruit speaks without wood interference. The transgression that still defines the house: Cono Sur was the first Chilean winery to seal quality wine under screwcap in 2002, when cork was considered non-negotiable for any serious bottling. The Bicicleta Pinot Noir is the accessible expression of Chile's most Pinot-obsessed producer — drink within 1–2 years of vintage for peak primary fruit.
