Evan Williams Single Barrel was launched in 1994 as one of the first commercially available single-barrel bourbons in Kentucky, a deliberate move by Heaven Hill to prove that their standard Evan Williams mash bill — a high-corn recipe with malted barley and rye — could stand alone without blending. Each release is drawn from a single aging warehouse barrel at Heaven Hill's Louisville operation, with the barrel number, rick position, and vintage year printed on the label.

Maturation takes place in new charred American white oak barrels at Heaven Hill's multi-story rickhouses, where upper-rick positions experience more dramatic seasonal temperature swings — accelerating the bourbon's interaction with the wood and driving deeper extraction of vanillin, caramel compounds, and toasted oak character. The spirit is bottled at 43.3% ABV (86.6 proof), non-chill filtered, and drawn at natural barrel proof without water reduction beyond bottling strength.

What separates this expression from most entry-tier single barrels is the vintage dating: each bottle carries the actual distillation year, making barrel-to-barrel variation traceable and collectible at a price point well below comparable aged single barrels from the same state.
