Aotan No Yuzushu originates in Kochi Prefecture, Japan's heartland for yuzu cultivation, where the citrus thrives in the region's humid subtropical climate and well-draining volcanic soils. This expression captures yuzu at its aromatic peak—the variety prized for its floral, intensely fragrant character rather than juice yield alone.

The production method steeps fresh yuzu fruit in a neutral spirit base, allowing the peel's essential oils and flesh to infuse over time. The result is bottled at natural strength without added sugar typical of mass-market umeshu, preserving the yuzu's bright acidity and volatile aromatics.
