Juniper Decadence (700 ml)
฿฿
Citadelle Juniper Decadence originates from the Cognac region of southwestern France, where the distillery has operated since 1997 in a converted 18th-century abbey. The spirit is built on a neutral grape-based alcohol foundation—a deliberate departure from grain-neutral spirits common in London Dry production—which imparts a subtle vinous undertone to the botanical matrix.
The gin's signature technique centers on maceration of 19 botanicals in the neutral spirit base prior to distillation, a method that allows extended contact between plant material and alcohol, intensifying extraction of volatile compounds. Juniper dominates the botanical bill, positioned as the primary flavor anchor rather than a supporting player. The distillation process yields a spirit bottled at 44% ABV, a strength that carries the juniper-forward profile without aggressive alcohol burn.
The "Decadence" designation signals an emphasis on juniper saturation—this is a gin for drinkers who seek the piney, resinous core of the spirit uncompromised by floral or citrus drift. The maceration-forward approach produces a denser, more integrated botanical expression than vapor-infusion methods typical of many contemporary gins.
Bottled without age statement; intended for immediate consumption, though the spirit's structure supports 2–3 years of cellar storage without degradation.
