Sonoma
California's most diverse wine county — from foggy Pinot Noir coastline to warm inland Zinfandel valleys.
About the region
Sonoma County encompasses 18 AVAs and extraordinary diversity, from the fog-shrouded Sonoma Coast (world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay) to the warmer Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley (Cabernet Sauvignon and old-vine Zinfandel). Russian River Valley is one of America's finest Pinot Noir regions. Sonoma's identity has increasingly differentiated from neighbouring Napa — less corporate, more agricultural, with a strong sustainability ethic. Kistler, Williams Selyem, and Peter Michael are among the most sought-after producers. Sonoma County was the first wine region in the US to become 99% certified sustainable.
